About the studio

I photograph the moment before the moment.

I’m Marisol Vega, a photographer and art director based in Lisbon, Portugal. For a decade I’ve worked in the slow register — film when it serves the picture, available light almost always, and a preference for the frame that holds something back.

My work moves between editorial portraiture and quiet studies of place. I care less about the decisive moment than the breath right before it: the turn of a head, the last of the daylight, the room just after someone has left it.

I shoot, edit, and sequence my own work, and I direct for clients who want a point of view rather than a deliverable.

How I work

01

Listen first

Every commission starts with a conversation, not a moodboard. I want to know what the picture is for.

02

Shoot patiently

Few frames, considered. I would rather wait for the light than manufacture it.

03

Edit ruthlessly

The edit is the work. I sequence by feeling, then defend every frame that survives.
